Bad Bunny is set to be the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime performer, NBC announced during halftime on Sunday Night Football, which is featuring a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL,” the global star wrote in a statement.

Super Bowl LX will take place Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. and be broadcast on NBC. Apple Music is behind the staple entertainment intermission program (along with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation) and teased the announcement of the artist reveal earlier today with a cryptic social media post.

Jay-Z added in a statement: “What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

Last year’s performer was Kendrick Lamar, who electrified the stage with smash hit “Not Like Us” and brought out SZA for a handful of duets, as well as Serena Williams. Lamar’s turn garnered four Emmy nominations, taking home the award for Outstanding Music Direction, and became the most-viewed Halftime show in history. Additional artists who have taken to the stage at the premium NFL event include Beyoncé, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Prince and many more.

Historically the most-watched live entertainment performance of the year and a major ratings player, the halftime show features icons of the music industry at the top of their game, performing medleys of hits past and present.

Apple Music, the NFL and Bad Bunny (née Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) also made the announcement on X, posting a 30-second teaser featuring the superstar artist’s track with Tainy, “Callaíta.”

The choice doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise, given rumors were swirling that the Puerto Rican trap artist would be the pick earlier today. Rolling Stone reported as such earlier.

Among the most streamed musicians in the world, the thrice Grammy-winning rapper-cum-singer has recently set his sights on the silver screen, with bit parts in Happy Gilmore 2 and Caught Stealing this year. He made his acting debut in 2022’s action flick Bullet Train. The DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS musician is also set to be the Saturday Night Live opening host for Season 51, with musical guest Doja Cat.

Bad Bunny, who recently concluded his 30-date residency in San Juan, made headlines earlier in September explaining his decision to not tour in the continental U.S.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times. All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S. But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the U.S.,” he explained to i-D. “People from the U.S. could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

In support of his sixth studio album, the DtMF World Tour kicks off Nov. 21 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, before concluding July 22 in Brussels, Belgium.

Jon Barker, SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL, said: “Bad Bunny represents the global energy and cultural vibrancy that define today’s music scene. As one of the most influential and streamed artists in the world, his unique ability to bridge genres, languages, and audiences makes him an exciting and natural choice to take the Super Bowl halftime stage. We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”

Oliver Schusser, Apple’s VP of Music, Sports and Beats, added: “The Halftime Show is the ultimate celebration of music and culture, and few artists embody that intersection more perfectly and authentically than Bad Bunny. At Apple Music, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Bad Bunny over the years and watching his meteoric rise into one of the most influential artists of our time has been truly incredible. His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop-culture and we are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide. We know this show will be unforgettable.”

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show telecast will be produced by DPS with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers, and Hamish Hamilton serving as director.
