A Corvette slammed into a tree in Fontana early Saturday, sending the driver to the hospital in a neck brace, footage shows.
It happened around 2 a.m., according to witnesses, in the area of Dulles Drive and Philadelphia Avenue. Unconfirmed reports from stringer service OnScene Media say the driver crashed while trying to evade authorities; KTLA has reached out to the California Highway Patrol for comment.
An OnScene report said authorities earlier clocked the bright yellow sports car speeding over 100 mph on a freeway in Riverside County. A pursuit was allegedly initiated, and traveled into San Bernardino County.
Although authorities did not immediately release information on what caused the crash, witnesses said the Corvette driver lost control when he attempted to speed over railroad tracks, causing the vehicle to bounce and smash into a tree.
Video of the aftermath showed a view of the conscious driver in the back of an ambulance wearing what appears to be a neck brace, and law enforcement officers investigating a mangled Corvette with detached vehicle parts scattered around the scene.
Authorities did not announce any arrests or release further details, including the driver’s condition, as of Saturday afternoon.
