Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson went scorched earth after her 14-year-old son’s Iowa high school celebrated “Bisexual Plus Awareness Week” during a student-run television program.

The Iowa congresswoman sent a letter to US Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon on Friday eviscerating Linn-Mar High School in Marion for broadcasting the “inappropriate” segment to students this week without parental consent and demanding that a full investigation be launched.

“This week’s messages to help stop biphobia also included encouraging students to wear bisexual pride pins to show allyship, learn about bisexuality and its history, and validate the feelings of bisexual individuals,” Hinson said in the letter, shared on X by the Daily Signal.

“These segments were broadcast to students without parental knowledge or consent. As a parent and a legislator, I am appalled that a school would assume the role of teaching and promoting sexual identity to our children. Our schools should be educating students, not indoctrinating them.”

The controversial morning announcement, aired to the school community on Tuesday, highlighted the inclusive week, with students explaining the meaning of “non-monosexual identity.”

“A non-monsexual identity refers to sexual orientations that are not exclusively homosexual or heterosexual,” a student said in the segment.

“The term encompasses a range of identities including bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer and omnisexual. Non-monosexual identities emphasize that attraction can be complex and not limited to traditional binaries”

In her letter, Hinson condemned the school district for “exposing” children to ideologies she said could conflict with a family’s beliefs and faith.

Trump signed an executive order in January aimed at withholding federal funds from institutions that teach gender ideology and critical race theory.

“I appreciate the Trump Administration’s commitment to restoring parents’ voice in their children’s education. This indoctrination — without even giving parents an opportunity to opt out — is exactly the kind of abuse we must end,” Hinson seethed the letter.

“Parents should be informed, empowered, and involved in all aspects of their children’s education, not blindsided after their children have been exposed to inappropriate content. It is imperative there is accountability and transparency for Linn-Mar parents and an assurance that this will not happen again.”

The Linn-Mar Community School District said in a statement that a review is underway.

“At this time, the district is conducting a review to determine whether an existing policies or procedures were violated during the production or airing of the segment,” the district told Fox News Digital.

“We remain committed to fostering respectful dialogue and supporting all students and staff in a safe and inclusive environment in a manner that aligns with district guidelines and policies.”
