Summary

  • In the wake of Tom Sachs’ NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 launch earlier this month, a new shoe related to the rollout has been unveiled
  • The Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe celebrates the ISRU app
  • Pre-orders are being made available exclusively to ISRU participants who were not allocated the NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0, with an estimated ship period of summer 2026

One of the most anticipated shoe releases of the year was the third version of the NikeCraft Mars Yard by Tom Sachs. Its elaborate rollout involved the introduction of the I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilization) app, where participating in daily challenges offered the opportunity to accrue points, leading to access for top scorers who were lucky enough to receive allocation. For those who participated but missed out on access to the Mars Yard 3.0, Sachs has just revealed a consolation prize: introducing the NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe.

The General Purpose Shoe was introduced in 2022 as a “boring” shoe to be worn relentlessly. A variety of colorways launched through 2023, up until Nike paused its partnership with Sachs due to allegations regarding his behavior and studio environment. However, it looks like it will be returning soon as a special ISRU-themed colorway has been created as a consolation prize for app participants. An early preview of the shoe indicates what to expect as an aged off-white composition hosts ISRU callouts at the medial midfoot, tongue, and heel tab.

Access to pre-order the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe is said to be occurring soon for valid participants. It will cost $110 USD per pair with the offer ending October 3 and an estimated ship period of summer 2026. Those who were allocated the NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 will not be offered an opportunity to purchase the shoe.
