Makena White, the girlfriend of professional golfer Jake Knapp, has died at age 28.
White’s friend announced that she passed “earlier this week” in an Instagram post shared to White’s account on Friday.
“She is already so deeply missed by her Dad, her family, her friends, and of course by Nelly and Fergie,” the friend captioned the post, referring to White’s two dogs.
“Makena was one of a kind. She had this rare way of making you feel special, and her huge heart was always overflowing with love,” the statement continued.
“To be loved by Makena was a gift; one that came with endless laughter, so much joy, and a healthy sprinkling of chaos as we tried to keep up with her travel schedule.”
The message continued, suggesting that those who would like to “honour Makena’s memory” send donations to the Bruyère Brain Health & Memory Clinic or the Griffin Bell Endowment Fund.
White’s mother, Crystal, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, began going to the Bruyère Brain Health & Memory Clinic in 2018.
“We love you Mak. We’ll miss you always, and we’ll be looking for you in the sunset,” the statement closed.
Additional details regarding White’s death have yet to be revealed.
A representative for Knapp did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
In her last Instagram post dated Aug. 11, White posted a special tribute to her boyfriend, 31, as he finished his second pro-golfing season.
“Year 2 of first fairway hugs & watching you live out your dreams,” she captioned her carousel of pictures featuring the couple. “Second season in the books — forever grateful to be on this walk with you, here’s to many many many more! I looooove you sweet boy, you make it so dang easy to be proud.”
