Update: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, the longly awaited third installment in Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, is reportedly set to swing into theaters a week earlier than planned. The release date has been adjusted from June 25, 2027, to June 18, 2027.
This new date places Beyond the Spider-Verse in cinemas around two holidays, Father’s Day and Juneteenth. It will arrive in cinemas on the same day as Disney‘s animated film, Gatto, and one week after Universal Pictures’ How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Following the gripping cliffhanger at the end of 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, fans have been highly anticipating this sequel. However, the film’s release has unfortunately faced multiple postponements. Hopefully, this will be the final date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse without further delays.
Original Story: Sony’s highly anticipated animated sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has officially set its release date. Revealed at CinemaCon, the filmmaking team also debuted an exclusive first look at the upcoming film — currently unavailable online, marking the thrilling conclusion to the Spider-Verse trilogy.
After being removed from Sony’s release calendar in 2023, Beyond the Spider Verse faced significant delays. Originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, the film was postponed due to the high standards set by its predecessors and the challenges of completing its intricate animation. Producers and writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller emphasized the importance of delivering a film that meets fans’ expectations.
The exclusive CinemaCon footage offered a glimpse into Miles Morales’ next adventure. Picking up directly after the events of Across the Spider-Verse, the teaser shows Miles (Shameik Moore) grappling with his fate across the multiverse. Determined to take control of his own story, he declares, “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. I’m gonna do my own thing.”
The footage also features the return of Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) and introduces a larger role for the alternate-universe version of Miles, who has taken on the identity of the Prowler. With the stakes higher than ever, the film promises a visually groundbreaking and emotionally powerful conclusion to the trilogy.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider Verse is set to premiere on June 4, 2027.
