As Duplass Brothers Productions and the Transgender Film Center team up for a trailblazing production grant, Mark Duplass is standing firm in his support.

The Golden Globe nominee recently defended the Found Footage Feature Fund after the $25,000 grant was announced on Wednesday at Fantastic Fest, supporting trans filmmakers developing indie features.

“For those of you who have responded negatively to this initiative, thank you for confirming the need to support the voices of those who merely wish to exist without discrimination,” wrote Duplass on X. “I’ll see you at the movies!”

Funded by Duplass Bros., the Found Footage Feature Fund will fully finance and greenlight a micro-budget production, also including private consultation sessions with Duplass and director Patrick Brice, as well as script consultations, post-production services and a marketing and deck strategy session, according to Variety.

The initiative is open to applicants across all genres, as long as they use found footage or other economical approaches to filmmaking. Applications will open Oct. 23 and close on Nov. 7, with a winner being selected in December. The grantee is expected to finish their film within a year of receiving the funds.

“I’m so thrilled to bring our micro-budget found footage experience, and some of my The Morning Show cash, to the table and see what we can do together,” Duplass told Variety of partnering with the Transgender Film Center‘s Sav Rodgers for the “incredible work” they’re doing.

Duplass previously said the Cassavetes model of acting in hits like The Morning Show and Good American Family in order to self-finance his own work has “traditionally worked well for us” at Duplass Bros. Productions.
