The brother of Joshua Jahn, the anti-ICE gunman identified in Wednesday’s shooting, says he doesn’t know if the shooter had any political interests before killing two people at the Dallas field office — and claims the crazed sniper “didn’t have strong feelings about ICE.”

“I didn’t think he was politically interested,” Noah Jahn told NBC News. “He wasn’t interested in politics on either side as far as I knew.

“He didn’t have strong feelings about ICE as far as I knew,” said Joshua’s older brother.

The 29-year-old gunman was a registered independent, last voting in November 2024, the outlet reported.

Here’s what we know about the Dallas ICE facility shooting

  • A gunman opened fire on an ICE van at a detention center in Dallas, Texas, in the early hours of Sept. 24.
  • The shooter opened fire while detainees were being transferred and the portcullis to the facility was open, reports claim.
  • Two people died and one was wounded, according to reports.
  • The shooter — who was found dead on a nearby rooftop from a self-inflicted gunshot wound — has not been identified.
  • There was writing on the bullets, with one reading “ANTI-ICE,” according to the FBI.
  • The shooting is being investigated “as an act of targeted violence,” the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas Field Office, Joe Rothrock, said in a press conference.

The brothers were born and raised in Texas, but Joshua shared desires to move to Oklahoma and live on his parents’ property, Noah added.

He said his brother knew how to shoot — and their parents owned a rifle — but that Joshua wasn’t a skilled shooter.

“He’s not a marksman. He would not be able to make any shots like that,” Noah Jahn said.

The gunman’s brother said he last saw him two weeks ago at their parents’ home, but didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.
