GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The driver of a pickup truck was “seriously injured” after a crash involving a Guntersville City School Bus on Wednesday.
The Guntersville Police Department said that the crash between the school bus and a white pickup truck happened at Highway 431 North at the intersection of Buck Island Drive around 6:44 a.m.
According to Guntersville Police, seven children were on the school bus at the time of the incident. GPD said that one child was transported to the hospital for observation.
The driver of the white pickup truck received serious injuries and was transported to Huntsville Hospital by an ambulance. The remaining children were evaluated at the scene by the Guntersville Fire Department Medics and were released back to school.
According to authorities, US Highway 431 is back open for travel.
According to Guntersville City schools, the crash happened when the school bus was leaving Gunters Landing.
The Guntersville City Schools Transportation team as well as administrators responded to the incident. Parents of the students on the bus at the time of the crash have been notified.
