PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was sentenced on Monday to 18 years in prison for a robbery and shooting that occurred last year, officials announced.

Junn Alan Quinto Coleman, 35, previously pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act Robbery, a federal crime that prohibits affecting interstate commerce with an actual or attempted robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Prosecutors said that Coleman also pleaded guilty to discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Details on the robbery and shooting the Phoenix man was involved in

In January 2024, Coleman and an accomplice robbed a Phoenix Soles streetwear store, located off of Central and Highland avenues.

Prosecutors said during the robbery that Coleman pointed a gun at people inside the store as well as pistol-whipped and shot a man in the shoulder. In addition, Coleman and the accomplice stole cash, merchandise and jewelry.

Coleman was connected to the crime and identified through his facial tattoos.

“This case is a primary example of multiple agencies working together to curtail violent crime in our community,” U.S. Attorney Timothy Courchaine said in the announcement. “We are grateful for the work of the Phoenix Department, FBI and Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry in quickly identifying the shooter and bringing him to justice.”
