Dutch fashion brand G-STAR has returned for the new season to launch the Anatomic Denim range.
As its name suggests, the latest drop continues to explore the brand’s core philosophy surrounding movement and the human body. Defined by sharp architectural lines – evolving from its archetypal Elwood model – the indigo-tinted range brings denim lovers a refined fit with new models, such as the Contor and the engineered seam Kitoh silhouette.
The arrival of Anatomic Denim, however, comes as more than just a product launch. Instead, G-STAR introduces the range as a new creative vision, complete with two special collaborations with art director Jordan Hemingway and taxidermists Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren. Exploring the technicality of denim, Hemingway conceptualizes a dynamic campaign that captures athletes in the latest pieces while removing their typical apparatus to bring the focus to form and function.
Meanwhile, Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren harness their practice in taxidermy to create a life-like sculpture of a gorilla swathed in panels of denim. Their artwork, too, traces muscular shapes and gives the effect of the fabric and body being one. Having toured to Amsterdam Fashion Week and CIFF Copenhagen, the sculpture is now on display at Art Zoo Museum in Amsterdam.
“G-STAR is a brand with real heritage, but what makes them exciting is their appetite for reinvention and boundary-pushing,” reflects Hemingway in an official statement. “This project was exhilarating in every sense, full of creative and technical challenges that demanded invention. Working closely with their team to solve them wasn’t just rewarding—it was a joy.”
Be sure to explore the aforementioned campaign in the gallery above.
You can now shop the Anatomic Denim range on G-STAR’s website and at select retailers.
