A woman was arrested for allegedly trying to kidnap a 4-year-old child in San Bernardino County.
The suspect was identified as Sariaha Hannah Lopez, 23, of San Bernardino, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
On Sept. 21, deputies responded to an attempted kidnapping on the 15300 block of Ceres Avenue in Fontana around 6 p.m.
The child’s parents said Lopez attempted to take the child by force before they quickly intervened. During the confrontation, the child’s mother was attacked by the suspect and suffered injuries to her face and upper body.
The child’s mother and father eventually restrained Lopez and held her down until authorities arrived. Deputies arriving at the scene described the woman as “erratic.”
Neither the child nor the child’s father was injured. Authorities also discovered Lopez was on active parole for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon.
She was arrested for attempted kidnapping and booked at the West Valley Detention Center. No further details, including the victims’ names or the circumstances leading up to the incident, were released.
