James Roday Rodriguez (Psych, A Million Little Pieces) directed two episodes of ABC’s High Potential‘s second season. The project reunites him with Psych executive producer Todd Harthan, the showrunner of the Tuesday night crime drama currently in its second season. Episode 2 airs tonight at 10 p.m.
Created by Drew Goddard, High Potential follows Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson), a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective, Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata).
Based on the popular French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), High Potential also stars Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Amirah J as Ava, Matthew Lamb as Elliot, Steve Howey as Nick Wagner, and Judy Reyes as Selena.
20th Television produces the series. Goddard and Sarah Esberg of Goddard Textiles, Harthan, Marc Halsey, and Olson serve as executive producers.
Roday Rodriguez is a multihyphenate who is best known for his eight-year run as Shawn Spencer on the USA hit comedy Psych, which ran for 8 seasons on USA Network, with three movies following. He also starred in ABC’s DJ Nash drama A Million Little Things. As a director, he also recently worked on The Crossover for Disney+, and from his own script, Treehouse, as part of the Blumhouse anthology series Into the Dark for Hulu. He also wrote and directed the USA pilot Shoot the Moon, starring Mandy Moore and Sam Huntington.
His film credits include The Buddy Games, The Hollywood Hills movie (aka Berserk), Pushing Dead, Christmas Eve, and Baby Baby Baby.
