Two sexual assaults reported just hours apart in Temecula led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Perris man who authorities say is a registered sex offender already on parole for a similar crime.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Southwest Station were first called around 5:21 p.m. on Sept. 19 to the 40000 block of Winchester Road, where a juvenile reported being sexually assaulted, according to Sergeant Miguel Vega-Santos. As investigators began piecing together what happened, they discovered that an adult victim had been assaulted less than two hours earlier at a business in the 20000 block of Ynez Road.
Both incidents pointed to the same suspect: Jacob Paulsen of Perris. Detectives served a search and took Paulsen into custody later that evening.
Investigators said Paulsen is an active sex registrant and was already on parole for a previous sexual assault. He was booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor, sexual battery, indecent exposure, and violating parole. A judge approved a bail enhancement, setting his bail at $500,000.
The Sheriff’s Department believes there may be additional victims and is urging anyone with information to contact Corporal K. Au at the Southwest Station at (951) 696-3000 or Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and no further details have been released.
