Created for the Mexico City–based gallery, the series probes the essential character of non-essential features in furniture design. Drawing its name from the idiom “bells and whistles,” the collection both interrogates and celebrates ornamentation — elevating what’s traditionally decorative into the very heart of each piece, and reframing embellishment as integral rather than superfluous.
At the core of every design is the bell motif: cast aluminum forms that double as the structural legs of an armchair, coffee table, and cabinet. This literal nod to age-old bell-making, where molten metal is poured into molds to yield resonant, enduring shapes, anchors the collection’s aesthetic in time-honored craftsmanship.
Complementing these sculptural legs are discreet drawers tucked into unexpected corners, their knobs rendered as miniature whistles that wink at the collection’s playful title.
