Summary

  • BASF will award two $50,000 USD grants and three $8,000 USD grants to visual artists, with applications opening September 30
  • The program launched at the Detroit Warehouse Art & Design Fair with a mobile installation by Bobby Anspach

The Bobby Anspach Studios Foundation (BASF) has chosen the Detroit Warehouse Art & Design Fair, taking place September 19 to 21, as the launchpad for its flagship grant program. The initiative is set to become a significant new source of support for artists and researchers working at the crossroads of mindfulness and creativity.

In its first year, the program will focus on the visual arts, awarding two unrestricted grants of $50,000 USD and three grants of $8,000 USD. Applications open September 30 on the foundation’s website and close December 30, 2025, with grantees announced in early 2026. Jurors include architect Suchi Reddy and composer Eluvium, a longtime collaborator of Bobby Anspach.

BASF will also make its debut at the fair with a mobile installation, a converted trailer featuring one of Anspach’s immersive “Place for Continuous Eye Contact” sculptures. Inspired by the artist’s earlier parking lot activations, the work is designed to travel and evolve, bringing the foundation’s mission directly into public space.

Grant recipients will not only gain financial support but will also be invited to join BASF’s year-round programming, designed to highlight their work and foster connections across disciplines and audiences.
