TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A round of applause rang throughout Two Dimes in Tuscaloosa for conservative activist Charlie Kirk Wednesday night.
“It is time for us to keep fighting, that is exactly what Charlie would want us to do. He’d want us to keep fighting for our faith,” said Turning Point USA Ambassador Caroline Joyous.
Joyous took the stage Wednesday night at the rally held in remembrance of Kirk, sharing a message to keep fighting and saying a prayer for Kirk’s family.
Joyous was joined alongside country music artist Alexis Wilkins who sang and shared her own message of hope to students.
Reality TV star Savannah Chrisley, alongside brother and University of Alabama student Grayson Chrisley, echoed the same message of hope and to keep Kirk’s legacy alive.
“Charlie Kirk built more than an organization, he built a movement, a movement ground in faith and courage and action,” said Savannah Chrisley.
“As a nation, as a God-fearing community, I believe that we owe it to Charlie to carry on the legacy of a man that preaches faith and fought for the betterment of this country,” said Grayson Chrisley.
Kirk’s legacy is one, Rev. Lukata Mjumbe with the Alabama African American Civil Rights Heritage Sites Consortium said, that may be controversial to some, but he said something positive can come from it.
“If anything good can come of it, it should be that we should speak more clearly or more directly about love, about community, about the beauty of humanity,” said Mjumbe.
Organizers of the rally said the proceeds from the rally will go towards Kirk’s wife and children.
