On the eve of New York Fashion Week, French Maisons Veuve Clicquot and Simon Porte Jacquemus brought the spirit of France to the heart of Central Park. The two brands unveiled their collaboration, which revived the La Grande Dame 2018 cuvée and gave it a new look through Simon’s whimsical lens.
The fête was held at the Central Park Boathouse, a scenic location surrounded by idyllic greenery. Pops of Veuve Clicquot’s classic yellow juxtaposed the natural landscape, as the Manhattan skyline framed the scene. Le Pique-Nique Sur L’eau, or “the picnic on the water,” hosted friends and family of the brand, including Julia Roberts, Imaan Hammam, Solange Knowles, Emma Roberts, Charlotte Le Bon and Toby Wallace.
When guests arrived, they were met with a special performance from Carnegie Hall musicians on Central Park Lake — the first performance on the lake in almost 90 years. Attendees were then ushered to dinner tables underneath Veuve Clicquot awnings, where they enjoyed a meal by Chef Alexia Duchêne.
“La Grande Dame 2018 is the outcome of simple materials, meaningful gestures and strong women’s stories, yet it is ultimately a celebration of — and for — optimistic and memorable moments,” said Simon Porte Jacquemus. “Central Park felt like the perfect place to celebrate the shared values of Veuve Clicquot and Simon Porte Jacquemus, a landmark in one of the most vibrant and creative cities in the world,” Jean-Marc Gallot, CEO of Veuve Clicquot, added.
New Yorkers and visitors in town for NYFW can join in on the celebration by checking out the Le Pique-Nique Sur L’eau experience from September 10-14. Check out more about the collaboration at veuveclicquot.com.
