Universal Pictures has pushed back the release of Other Mommy, its horror film from Atomic Monster, based on the novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman (Bird Box).
Previously set for May 8, 2026, the film now is poised to open wide on October 9, 2026. In its move to fall, the film will open against The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender from Paramount.
Other Mommy is described as a supernatural trip into the darkening world of a young girl as her family, and their home, are haunted by a sinister entity that is determined to take up residence inside her. But first, it needs to persuade her to let it in…
The cast includes Oscar winner Jessica Chastain (It Chapter Two), Jay Duplass (Transparent), Arabella Olivia Clark (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere) and Dichen Lachman (Severance).
Rob Savage (Host, The Boogeyman) directed from a script by WGA Award winner Nathan Elston (Succession). The film is being produced by Atomic Monser/Blumhouse in association with Spin a Black Yarn for Universal Pictures. James Wan is producing, with Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, Savage, Malerman and Ryan Lewis exec producing, and Alayna Glasthal as the executive overseeing for Atomic Monster.
This Friday, Universal releases the Monkeypaw horror flick Him, starring Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers. Their slate for the rest of the year also includes Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie on September 26, Black Phone 2 on October 17, Wicked: For Good on November 21, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 on December 5.
