While Tobias Ulmer’s HYACYN is undoubtedly geared for the future, the Brooklyn-based designer looked back in time to inform the label’s latest ready-to-wear range. Entitled “STURM UND DRANG” – named after the late 18th-century Romantic German literary and artistic movement – the rebellious 2025/2026 collection channels that same ethos, but reengineers it through HYACYN’s distinct design lens.

“STURM UND DRANG was about breaking from order and authority. That same defiant energy is what we want to capture with this collection,” contextualized Ulmer in the collection notes. “Rejecting conformity while finding beauty in tension.”

Oversized outerwear contrasted with tailored leather garments and distressed graphics, all culminating in a concise, yet compelling runway showcase rooted in creative rebellion. Not to mention, the A-list front row featured rappers Bktherula, Rich Amiri, Destroy Lonely, and Matt Ox, as well as The Clermont Twins and Honey Balenciaga.

Taking the presentation’s storytelling to another medium, Artist Isaiah Davis’s “Door Installation” accompanied the garments, acting as “a symbol of privacy and dignity in a world where some try to break that door down — dictating how we should live or feel,” read the collection notes, concluding that: “HYACYN stands in defense of individuality.”

Take a closer look at HYACYN “STURM UND DRANG” 2025/2026 range in the runway images above and stay tuned to Hypebeast for continuing New York Fashion Week coverage.
