LAX hosted Cranky Dorkfest 2025, welcoming over 500 aviation enthusiasts for exclusive behind-the-scenes access to ramp operations and aircraft displays, something the average flyer never gets a chance to see.

The event also featured exclusive ramp access at the LAX Flight Path Museum and Learning Center, with static displays of passenger aircraft from Delta and American Airlines.

Attendees toured aircraft interiors, interacted with flight crews, and observed LAX operations from unique vantage points typically restricted to the public.

According to LAX officials, the event started as a small gathering but has since grown to “one of the region’s premier aviation community celebrations.”

“Cranky Dorkfest represents the very best of community engagement and aviation education,” said Vanessa Rodriguez, the Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs of Los Angeles World Airports. “This event allows us to share our passion for aviation with enthusiasts from around the world, while showcasing the incredible operations that make LAX one of the busiest origin and destination airports globally.”

It wasn’t just aircraft tours that attendees got to experience, as they also gathered at the landing viewpoint site just across from the In-N-Out on Sepulveda Boulevard for the famous LAX planespotting experience. The 500+ aviation fanatics also got to network with other enthusiasts and enjoy prizes donated by major airlines and aviation companies.

Almost undoubtedly, the attendees left a little less cranky — hopefully.
