Seth Rogen has won his first Emmy for playing a harried movie executive in “The Studio,” a show he also cocreated. The star known for his works in film comedies like “Knocked Up,” took home the trophy for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

“The Studio” was a favorite going into the night with 23 nominations, tied for the most ever for a comedy series with Season 2 of “The Bear.” In the satire, Rogen plays Matt, who is elevated to head of the fictional Continental Studios at the start of the show. Matt loves cinema and thinks he can mix art and commerce — a task that proves tougher than expected as he goes head-to-head with bosses and a number of celebrities playing themselves, including Zoë Kravitz and Martin Scorsese. Rogen and his co-creator and longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg directed all 10 episodes.

Rogen’s win ends the streak of Jeremy Allen White, who has won two years in a row for playing the tortured chef Carmy Berzatto on “The Bear.” White was also nominated this year along with Adam Brody for “Nobody Wants This”; Jason Segel for “Shrinking”; and Martin Short for “Only Murders in the Building.”
