A man called 911 early Sunday morning to report that his brother had been shot and killed outside an event in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
Los Angeles police responded just after 5 a.m. to the 1100 block of South Los Angeles Street, near 11th Street, where they found one man fatally shot. Another person was transported to a hospital in unknown condition, according to information relayed to a KTLA crew at the scene.
Investigators said the suspect’s vehicle had about six occupants, all described as being between 20 and 25 years old. No details have been released about what led up to the shooting, or any further identifying information about the suspects, but unconfirmed reports indicated the suspect vehicle may have been a tan Kia.
The location was promoted Friday on social media as the site of a Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight-night watch party.
Video from the scene shows a canopy set up outside the building as detectives worked through the morning. Over 20 bullet casings could be seen marked on the street and sidewalk area at the investigation scene.
The investigation remains active.
