Two people, including a teenager, have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a man to death during a late-night fight in San Bernardino County on Friday, authorities announced.

The Chino Police Department told KTLA that officers responded to an 11:42 p.m. call reporting a fight between what was only described as “multiple subjects” in the 13000 block of 9th Street.

Officers arrived to find 21-year-old Angel Martinez of Upland suffering from stab wounds in the area. First responders transported Martinez to a local hospital, where, despite lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Detectives later identified two people involved in the deadly fight as 18-year-old Joshua Rivera and 29-year-old Justin Rodriguez, both of Chino.

A preliminary investigation revealed that, leading up to the fatal stabbing, the teen had gotten into a verbal dispute with the victim, Martinez. It was not immediately clear what started the argument, but police indicated that the individuals then went their separate ways.

Details are limited, but detectives stated Rivera later returned with Rodriguez, and the two of them got into a physical confrontation with Martinez, which escalated to the fatal blow.

Police said both suspects were later located in Chino, taken into custody and booked at West Valley Detention Center on charges of murder.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact Detective Ike at 909-334-3035 or Investigator Gallo at 909-334-3015.
