PHOENIX — Maricopa County is bringing back its buy one, get one deal next week for camping at its regional parks.

The parks and recreation department has been offering this promotion since 2008, in order to give campers a chance to experience county parks before the busy winter season.

Although the program has expanded to include non-residents, this year it has been redesigned to once again target Maricopa County residents.

“I’m excited to invite my fellow county residents to rediscover the natural beauty of our parks,” Maricopa County Board of Supervisors District Two Chairman Thomas Galvin said in a press release. “The parks showcase some of the most breathtaking Sonoran Desert vistas you’ll find anywhere, and I encourage everyone to get outside, explore and experience this firsthand.”

Details on the Maricopa County regional parks promotion

The deal allows residents who pay the camping fee at a participating park to receive another night of equal or lesser value for free. It starts Thursday and is valid for any stays between then and Oct. 31.

Campers get one night free for stays of two to seven consecutive nights and two nights free for stays of eight to 14 consecutive nights.

  • Vulture Mountains Recreation Area moves into next phases of revitalization

Arizonans are able to take advantage of the promotion and book their camping reservation online or by contacting the parks and recreation department at 602-506-2930.

The county parks that are participating in the BOGO deal include:

  • Cave Creek Regional Park with 55 individual developed campsites
  • McDowell Mountain Regional Park with 76 developed campsites suitable for both RV and tent camping
  • Usery Mountain Regional Park with 74 individual developed campsites that can accommodate both RV and tent camping
  • White Tanks Regional Park with 40 individual developed campsites for tent and RV camping.

There are guidelines for residents taking advantage of the promotion.

The offer is only valid for developed and semi-developed camping sites as well as for reservations booked through calling the park, in-person at the park and on the Maricopa County parks website.

The offer is only valid for designated camp sites and rain checks will not be issued if a space is unavailable.

The promotion will only be applied after verification that the person booking the stay has an Arizona state-issued ID with a Maricopa County address.

“We love seeing people get outside, connect with nature and enjoy everything our regional parks have to offer,” Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Waller said. “Bringing the program back to residents helps us ensure that our local community has the space and support they need to continue doing just that.”
