A Spanish startup that has developed teams of AI agents that autonomously operate software has just raised $2.5 million.

Barcelona-based Altan allows users to create software through text or voice prompts. “Companies used to hire a team of developers who would create some solution for you or for your clients,” Altan’s cofounder and CEO, Albert Salgueda, told Business Insider. “The process of that is now being automated. That’s the first step.”

A team of AI agents, each with different roles, such as UX designers and full-stack engineers, then handles everything from creating internal databases to managing backend automations.

The startup, founded in 2023, says it has around 25,000 users, who range from companies to non-technical founders. “For example, in the case of a restaurant, we can now generate a custom, hyper-personalized reservation system or inventory management software where they can take orders, store their products wherever — and we can generate that in a matter of hours,” Salgueda said.

The startup is experimenting with its business model but offers a subscription service with a plan starting at around $25 a month.

AI-assisted coding tools have skyrocketed in popularity this year. Companies like Lovable, Windsurf, and Replit have raised billions of dollars in combined funding in recent months as investors look to capitalize on vibe coding — the practice of using AI to help beginners and experts alike code fluently.

Salgueda found that being in this “super hot space” helped Altan’s fundraising efforts. VentureFriends and JME Ventures led the pre-seed round, which included participation from 4Founders Ventures and ElevenLabs’ Carles Reina, as well as additional angel investors.

Altan said it would use the fresh funding to expand its seven-strong team.

Check out the 16-slide pitch deck used to secure the fresh funding.
