Eight suspects were arrested after authorities discovered $1.4 million worth of stolen merchandise in Los Angeles.

The case, which originated from a cargo theft investigation, was being investigated by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Crimes Bureau-Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team.

On Sept. 10, a search warrant operation was executed at a property on the 13000 block of Alameda Street in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles.

During the operation, authorities discovered:

  • $1.4 million worth of stolen Acer brand computers
  • Seven stolen vehicles, including a tractor (semi-truck)
  • One AK-47 rifle
  • One AR-15 rifle
  • One Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun
  • Approximately two pounds of methamphetamine
  • One 53-foot trailer

Eight suspects were arrested at the scene for alleged cargo theft. Detectives did not release their names.

Photos of the bust showed the commercial property was filled with large stacks of boxed merchandise.

“The mission of the Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team (CCATs) is to reduce cargo theft crimes by apprehending and prosecuting both cargo thieves and their receivers and by returning stolen property to their rightful owners,” LASD said. “The mission involves a close working relationship with representatives from the private sector as well as other law enforcement agencies.”

Anyone with information on cargo theft is encouraged to call LASD’s Major Crimes Bureau at 562-946-7893.

Anonymous tips can be provided to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.
