Hypetrak took to Brooklyn to celebrate the latest issue of Hypetrak Magazine. Held at Williamsburg’s SILO venue, the music platform brought out 54 Ultra, duendita, FiFi Zhang, dreamcastmoe, and Planta Industrial to showcase the ethos behind Nueva Generaciones, a music initiative spotlighting underground artistry and up-and-coming musical tastes. Powered by Corona Extra, the new issue of Hypetrak Magazine features pop luminary Jean Dawson on the cover, with special interviews from the artists of Nueva Generaciones, diving deep into the stories that embody their genre-bending sounds.

The night culminated with magnetic performances and distinct sets that complemented each artist’s diverse sound. New Jersey crooner 54 Ultra kicked off the night with a slew of tracks sampling nostalgic 1960s-inspired soul music, including “Upside Down,” “Heaven Knows,” “What More Can I Do,” “I Won’t Go,” and “Sierra.” From a sonic standpoint, duendita smoothly transitioned into her set, continuing the night’s layered foray into neo-soul. “baseline,” “super sad!,” and “beach” captured the artist’s poetic storytelling and modern fusion of soul and R&B. She closed out her set with “real better soon.”

Off the cusp of releasing his latest EP, The Lost Tape, Vol. 3, D.C.-based artist dreamcastmoe provided a glimpse into his eclectic discography. He performed “Inomi,” recorded with vocalist Anna Hoo, single “Repetitions,” along with the synth-heavy “Next 2 Me,” released last year in collaboration with electronic duo Neil Frances.

Bringing a dose of dreamy dance-infused electronica, FiFi Zhang debuted “You Ain’t In Love,” a fluttery dance track from her upcoming album, slated for release this year, in addition to the mesmerizing single, “Fallen Angel.” The single alone could soundtrack your favorite anime, and Zhang’s performance illuminated the song’s ethereal production and vibrant visuals accompanying her album rollout. “So Beautiful So Lonely” charted the artist’s evolution as a songwriter and producer and the ethereal soundscapes presented on her 2023 EP of the same name.

Hailing from the Dominican Republic and Bronx, respectively, Planta Industrial closed out the night with heavy hitter, “Oi,” a crowd-pleasing, energy-bumping single released by the band earlier this year. “Teteo in The Bronx” repped the band’s NYC roots, followed by the reggaeton-laced “Anormales.” During the night, Hypetrak debuted a custom merch collection, featuring tote bags, T-shirts, and a curated cassette mixtape featuring the artists of NG to commemorate the launch of the magazine and music platform.

See glimpses of the night in the galleries and video above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast and Hypetrak to see more from the artists of Nueva Generaciones.
