A mom who returned home to discover “the worst surprise” waiting inside has gone viral on social media.
Dr. Lydia Pulci shared a video online (@drlydpulci on TikTok) showing the horrifying moment she had to leave her home out of fear because of what she found inside. As she returned from work with her son in her arms, she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw an unwelcome guest in the shape of a hawk.
As it turned out, the bird flew into a window, breaking it in the process, and was perched on the furniture inside her home. Pulci, 30, who resides in New York, described it as “something going crazy” in the house, which left her “really scared.”
After spotting the live bird, Pulci carried her son out of the house, and they waited in their car at the end of the driveway.
As a result, Pulci had to call for help from local animal services. They arrived at the house with a large net and were able to get the hawk out and let it fly away to safety.
The shocking ordeal was certainly not what Pulci, an OBGYN, wanted to arrive home to, and she couldn’t resist sharing the experience on social media. In just a matter of days, the TikTok video has gone viral with over 822,000 views and more than 47,500 likes at the time of writing.
Newsweek has contacted Pulci via Instagram for comment. We could not verify the details of the video.

Residents should observe and appreciate hawks from a distance, and they should not feed them as this can impact the bird’s natural hunting instincts. Hawks have a tendency to fly into windows, especially when they reflect the sky or trees around them. So, official advice from nyc.gov is to put decals or pictures on windows to prevent hawks from crashing into the glass.
While many internet users were horrified by Pulci’s uninvited visitor, others found it incredibly amusing. This has led to more than 470 comments on TikTok already, as social-media users were quick to share their thoughts.
One comment on the post reads: “That’s the hawks house now lol [laugh out loud].”
Another TikTok user wrote: “At least you don’t have a cat, chaos would be so bad.”
A third person joked: “It’s the hawk’s house now. Be nice to your new landlord.”
One commenter added: “The hawk is definitely claiming squatters rights with the way it was looking at you through the window.”
