Summary

  • The CFDA Fashion Awards have announced their 2025 nominees, including American menswear designers such as Thom Browne, Willy Chavarria, and The Row.
  • The 2025 ceremony will take place at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC on November 3.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has officially unveiled its list of nominees and honorees for the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, presented by Amazon Fashion. The nominations highlight a wide range of talent, from American icons to the industry’s vanguard voices. This year, the American fashion industry’s major award ceremony will take place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City on November 3.

For American Womenswear Designer of the Year, big-name US labels Ralph Lauren and Tory Burch are up against contemporaries like Rachel Scott for Diotima and Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera. In menswear, the American Menswear Designer of the Year category is packed with heavy hitters, including Thom Browne and Willy Chavarria, as well as The Row, Amiri, and Eckhaus Latta.

For American Accessory Designer of the Year, nominees include Ana Khouri, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for Luar, Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row, and Tory Burch. For those on the rise, the Google Shopping American Emerging Designer of the Year award nominees include Ashlynn Park for Ashlyn and Bernard James. Elsewhere, industry veterans will be awarded for their enduring contributions, including Donatella Versace‘s Positive Change Award and Ralph Rucci’s the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

This year’s nominees closely echo last year’s lists. Designer Willy Chavarria has won American Menswear Designer for the last two consecutive years, and was also up against Amiri’s Mike Amiri and Thom Browne in 2024. In 2023, Rachel Scott of Diotima was another honoree of the Shop with Google American Emerging Designer of the Year award, and subsequently won the title of American Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2024. Additionally, 2024 Accessories Designer of the Year Raul Lopez of Luar is up for the award once again.

The CFDA shared that additional honoree awards will be announced at a later date. Stay tuned to Hypebeast for the latest fashion industry insights.
