DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Sizzle & Smoke, formerly known as River-Fest, is set to make it’s return back to Decatur for its fifth year in a row.

The community event will feature a Double Steak Cook-off Competition, where competitors will have the opportunity to showcase their skills for a chance at championship recognition.

Participants must be 10 or older to enter the competition. Registration is required to compete, with the deadline on event day which is scheduled for Saturday, September 27, at Ingalls Harbor.

The cook-off is not the only thing attendees will be able to enjoy. Food trucks, local vendors, live music, and family-friendly activities will also be available along with entertainment on the banks of the Tennessee River.

According to event organizers, there’s a more significant meaning behind the event. Sizzle & Smoke supports the Tennessee Valley Outreach Rescue Mission, Decatur’s only overnight homeless shelter. Proceeds from the event will help provide essential services to those in need.

“This event is about great food and fellowship, but more than that—it’s about supporting ourneighbors and helping those who need it most,” said Matthew Richards, event organizer.”

Additionally, the event is also dog-friendly, welcoming leashed four-legged visitors to join inon the fun.

Event hours are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
