Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from custody at a Los Angeles facility on Tuesday.

Donnell Moore Jr., 24, was serving his sentence at the Male Community Reentry Program when he escaped at around 1:30 p.m., according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Workers were alerted that Moore had tampered with his ankle monitor and after searching the buildings and grounds, he was confirmed to be missing. His last known location was near 37th and Hill streets in South L.A.

Moore is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 163 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt, gray shorts, black and white athletic shoes with high black socks and he was carrying a black backpack.

He was admitted to the center on Jan. 23, 2024, and is serving five years for second-degree robbery.

Authorities with the CDCR and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting in the search. It’s unclear where he may be headed.

Anyone who has seen Moore or knows his whereabouts is asked to call Special Agent Ellis at 951-321-3696 or simply dial 911.

The Male Community Reentry Program allows eligible offenders committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the reentry center to ease their transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for offenders who have two years or less left to serve.

CDCR officials said 99 percent of incarcerated people who have escaped or walked away from an adult institution, camp or facility have been apprehended.
