WNBA Executive Calls for Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese to Demand Trade

The Chicago Sky will take part in their season finale on Tuesday, bringing an end to a second-straight season where they will miss out on the WNBA postseason. And according to one anonymous WNBA GM, this is a sign that Angel Reese should do everything she can to be dealt by the organization.

Reese has been incredibly valuable for the Sky throughout her two-year tenure in Chicago, leading the league in rebounds for a second straight season in 2025. Additionally, Reese has improved as an offensive player, seeing her field goal percentage jump from just 39.1 percent in 2024 to 45.8 percent in 2025.

More news: Sky Called Out for Angel Reese Suspension

It sure seems like Reese is growing as a player. But thus far, the Sky organization has not been growing along with her, sitting at just 10-32 on the season.

This has caused Reese to grow increasingly frustrated, publicly questioning the talent on the Sky’s current roster in comments to The Chicago Tribune earlier this month, which she was ultimately suspended by the team for.

And if things don’t change quickly, Reese has made it known publicly that she may seek opportunities elsewhere in the near future.

One anonymous WNBA executive wouldn’t fault her for doing so, outlining in comments to Dallas Hoops Journal that they believe that the Sky are the “worst-run organization in the league” and that Reese should demand a trade this offseason.

“She needs to get the hell out of there,” said the anonymous WNBA executive. “Chicago is probably the worst-run organization in the league. You’re gonna suspend your best player just because she’s putting pressure on you to get better? That was embarrassing to see. I think Chicago will try to trade her this offseason, but if they don’t, she should request a trade.”

More news: Chicago Sky Teammate Issues Pointed Response to Angel Reese’s Message

It’s truly hard to argue with anything the anonymous executive had to say here. Thus far, the Sky haven’t shown any indication that they are committed to winning in any capacity since Reese joined the team in 2024.

Potentially trading Reese also may not be too bad of a decision from the perspective of the Sky either. Clearly, Reese doesn’t seem to want to be in Chicago as long as the current direction of the team remains the same. And her past comments certainly doesn’t help team chemistry by any means.

And given the fact that Reese has shown clear improvements thus far throughout her career, it seems as if the Sky could very well get a solid return back from trading Reese and potentially looking to rebuild in another way.
