Summary

  • PORTER Yoshida & Co.’s LUGGAGE LABEL has launched the “FILAMENT” collection
  • The new bag series draws on traditional Japanese craftsmanship
  • It features Vertical Tote Bag, Tote Bag and the 2WAY Shoulder Bag, each offered in two colors: Black and Sand

PORTER Yoshida & Co. introduced “FILAMENT,” the first LUGGAGE LABEL release in nearly a year. Rooted in the Japanese ethos of “on-ko-chi-shin”(“learning from the old to create the new”), the series draws on centuries of artisanal wisdom by centering on bamboo, a time-honored yet understated material. This collection celebrates Japan’s heritage of ingenuity, transforming a familiar natural element into a refined accessory line that enriches daily life with quiet elegance.

At the heart of the collection lies its signature heat-treated bamboo handle, paired ingeniously with a single strip of supple leather. By threading the leather beneath the bamboo, the bag’s opening gently closes under its own weight, offering both visual grace and intuitive functionality. Soft-to-the-touch leather is reinforced with an interlining borrowed from woven-fabric bagmaking, eliminating any need for breaking in. Subtle depth and shadow are added by inverting the faces of the brass rivets, ensuring snag-free comfort while accentuating the collection’s minimalist detailing.

The body of the bag employs natural-textured canvas for an understated look that stands upright even when fully packed. Bias-sewn reinforcing webbing cradles contents from both sides down to the base, while an interior central divider features a diagonally cut pocket to prevent items from piling up and facilitate effortless access.

Offered in three silhouettes, spanning the Vertical Tote Bag, Tote Bag and the 2WAY Shoulder Bag, each available in Black and Sand colorways. The new line also includes a distinctive 2WAY style whose wide shoulder strap folds over the opening to double as a lid. The collection is available at PORTER flagship stores, PORTER GINZA, PORTER STAND, as well as the Yoshida & Co. official online shop.
