The long-awaited next game in the Borderlands series is almost here, with Borderlands 4 – one of the most anticipated games in September– set to be released later this week.
Borderlands 4 is set to be the series’ most bombastic and full-featured game yet, and early previews for the game have been very positive so far. The game is coming to all modern gaming platforms – including Switch 2, though it’s coming a little bit later – in just a few days, and fans are very excited for its release.
Ahead of the game’s launch, we’ve put together all the information you need to know about Borderlands 4, including the release date for Borderlands 4, as well as the exact release time for Borderlands 4 on PC and consoles, and Borderlands 4’s price, editions, and more.
Borderlands 4 Release Date
Borderlands 4 will be released on September 12, 2025, on both PC and consoles.
The game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on both Steam and Epic Games Store on the date above, while Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait slightly longer, with the game set to be released on October 3, 2025 on Switch 2.
Borderlands 4 Console Release Time
Borderlands 4 will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at 12:00am midnight EDT.
Like many games, Borderlands 4 is following a rolling midnight release throughout the globe on console. This means that it will be released at midnight in the easternmost timezone in each region — gamers in New York will get access to the game when it hits midnight there, and gamers in California will get access to it at the same time, which will be 9:00pm PDT on September 11. New Zealand will get access to it even earlier, as it hits midnight on the 12th 16 hours before New York.
There is no early access available via any deluxe editions of Borderlands 4.
Borderlands 4 PC Release Time
Borderlands 4 will be released on PC at 12:00pm midday EDT on September 11, 2025.
Unlike the console release of the game, Borderlands 4 on PC will have a global launch across the world, meaning no region will get access to the game before any other — New Zealand and New York will both get the game at the same time on both Steam and Epic Games Store. This also means that PC players in the US will get a 12-hour headstart on the game compared to players on console.
Here’s when Borderlands 4 will unlock on PC in each time zone:
- PDT – 9:00am
- EDT – 12:00pm midday
- BRT – 1:00pm
- BST – 5:00pm
- CEST – 6:00pm
- CST – 12:00am midnight (Sept. 12)
- JST – 1:00am (Sept. 12)
- AEST – 2:00am (Sept. 12)
- NZST – 4:00am (Sept. 12)
