The San Francisco 49ers just can’t seem to stay healthy.
After placing six players on injured reserve during the preseason — running backs Ameer Abdullah and Patrick Taylor Jr., wide receivers Jacob Cowing and Equanimeous St. Brown, and offensive linemen Andre Dillard and Isaiah Prince —some more of the 49ers’ rosters are dropping like flies.
Tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Jauan Jennings both exited Sunday’s 17-13 season-opening win over the Seattle Seahawks with hamstring and shoulder injuries, respectively, and both didn’t return.
While there’s been no new update on Jennings, there is some news on Kittle’s condition, and it’s not good news, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“TE George Kittle is out multiple weeks with a hamstring injury, while the team is doing a CT scan on Jauan Jennings to make sure his shoulder is OK,” Rapoport wrote on X.
“George Kittle is likely out 3-5 weeks with the hamstring injury, source says, making him a candidate for Injured Reserve,” he stated in a follow-up tweet.
Kittle had four catches for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s win before his injury.
In his absence, the 49ers will rely on veteran Luke Farrell and 26-year-old Jake Tonges. The two have a combined 40 receptions, 337 yards and one touchdown between them.
