Deus Ex Machina has partnered with MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) to create two exclusive, one-off cars that draw on MINI’s storied racing heritage and Deus’s lifestyle ethos. The bespoke MINI JCW x DEUS duo will make its world premiere at IAA Mobility 2025 on September 6 at the MINI Pavilion in Munich. Across the roof of each vehicle is a stark white “X” – a signifier of the brands’ joint creative venture.
Both cars share the robust underpinnings of a MINI John Cooper Works model but diverge in powertrain and personality. The first is a fully electric JCW J01 producing up to 190 kW (258 hp), conceived as “born of the coast,” with surf-inspired graphics and design cues that channel beach culture. Its counterpart, a combustion-engine JCW F66 delivering 170 kW (231 hp), “forged on the track” with a lean, performance-focused aesthetic – a nod to MINI’s motorsport precision.
The styling of the show cars was the result of a true cross-brand collaboration. Deus Creative Director Carby Tuckwell and long-time design partner Matt Willey worked closely with MINI’s design team under Holger Hampf, alongside Munich-based Designworks, to craft both the interior and exterior, melding artisanal flair with technical rigor. The outcome is two distinct yet complementary characters unified by shared proportions, signature color blocking and bespoke finishes.
Extending the MINI JCW x DEUS spirit into apparel, the two brands have also developed a unisex capsule collection set to launch at IAA on September 6, 2025. Drawing on both brands’ DNA, where precision engineering, timeless styling and obsessive attention to detail converge, the range uses high-grade materials and thoughtful tailoring to bridge the gap between motorsport performance and modern streetwear. Following its Munich debut, the collection will roll out globally via Deus Ex Machina.
