The Pittsburgh Steelers and future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers went into their Week 1 matchup with the New York Jets looking to start the season strong. For Rodgers, it was a chance at revenge.
Over the last two years, Rodgers went through disappointment with the Jets. On his way out, he had a very negative exit interview with New York’s first-year head coach Aaron Glenn.
Needless to say, beating the Jets was a good feeling for the 41-year-old signal caller.

Following the game, Rodgers made it clear how good it felt to beat his old team. He didn’t hold back when sharing his feelings either.
As shared by NFL reporter Mike Garafolo on X, Rodgers took an open shot at New York in his post-game press conference.
“I was happy to beat everyone associated with the Jets,” Rodgers said.
Those words were clearly a message directly to the Jets. Rodgers was not treated well on his way out of town. It didn’t take him long to make a statement that they might have made a mistake.
Throughout the course of the game, Rodgers dominated the New York defense. He completed 22 of his 30 pass attempts for 244 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. That performance was a little blast from the past to Rodgers’ prime.
On the other side of the field, Jets’ quarterback Justin Fields had a good game as well. He played for the Steelers last season. In this performance, he threw for 218 yards and a touchdown, while also running for 48 yards and two touchdowns.
When all was said and done, Rodgers led his team to a big 34-32 win. Pittsburgh starts with a 1-0 record after going all-in on competing for a Super Bowl this season.

It’s also important to note that Rodgers is likely playing in his final NFL season. To be able to start off that year with a vintage performance was a warning to the rest of the league.
Rodgers is clearly here to win with the Steelers. He’s feeling good and playing well. Pittsburgh might very well be a team to watch in the AFC as a potential Super Bowl contender if its star quarterback can continue at the level he showed in Week 1.
