The Chicago Bears definitely need to have as many bodies as possible available for their tough Week 1 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, especially to defend the Vikings’ aerial attack.
Well, the Bears have revealed some concerning news on that front, as they have added defensive back Kyler Gordon to the injury report as a result of a hamstring injury, the team has announced. Gordon is listed as questionable for the affair.

Gordon marks the second key Chicago defensive back whose status is in question for the season opener. Top cornerback Jaylon Johnson is the other, who is questionable with a calf/groin issue.
Gordon played in 15 games and made 13 starts for the Bears last season, finishing with 75 tackles, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and five passes defended.
The 25-year-old was originally selected by Chicago in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and immediately established himself as a critical piece of the Bears’ secondary, racking up 71 tackles, three interceptions and six passes defended during his rookie campaign.
Gordon followed that up by recording 61 tackles, a sack and a couple of picks in Year 2, but it should be noted that he has never played a full season.
The Bears are looking to bounce back from a very disappointing 2024 campaign in which they went just 5-12 in spite of entering last year with playoff aspirations. Chicago’s defense was a big problem during its rough season, as it ranked 27th in the NFL.
The Bears have definitely made some notable improvements on both sides of the ball over the past several months, but they are also playing in arguably the toughest division in football in the NFC North.

The Vikings themselves are entering a new era with J.J. McCarthy now under center, but with the weapons they have, their offense will probably be just fine.
We will see how Chicago handles it on Monday night, with or without Gordon.
