On top of wanting to start the season off with a 1-0 record, the Vikings need to see what J.J. McCarthy can do now that he is the starter for the team. The good news for McCarthy is that the final injury report for the Vikings just dropped, and it holds some huge news for the young signal caller.

According to the final injury report, left tackle Christian Darrisaw is officially questionable. While that status does not sound good, Darrisaw was upgraded to a full participant during Friday’s practice.
Darrisaw being upgraded to a full participant means he is likely to play on Monday when the Vikings take on the Bears. Darrisaw will be McCarthy’s primary blindside blocker, so his missing the game would have been troublesome for the second-year passer.

Also, wide receiver Jalen Nailor is off the injury report after suffering a hand injury, giving McCarthy another weapon to get the ball to.
McCarthy will have a lot of pressure when he takes the field, as the Vikings chose to move forward with him as the starting quarterback for 2025. A year removed from a torn meniscus, the former Michigan product missed all of 2024 due to season-ending surgery.
The Vikings were then tied to bringing back Sam Darnold and bringing in Aaron Rodgers, neither of which happened. Instead, the team chose to entrust the 2025 season to McCarthy.
McCarthy is also already at a loss, as Jordan Addison will not suit up due to a three-game suspension. The good news is he still has Justin Jefferson to throw the ball to, along with fan-favorite Vikings receiver Adam Thielen, and Nailor.
With Darrishaw back in the lineup after dealing with a knee injury, the Vikings have a good shot at getting a big win against the Bears. Minnesota needs to start strong, and McCarthy needs a big game to prove he belongs under center.
