Serbia will travel the length of Europe for a 2026 World Cup qualifying summit with Latvia in Riga on Saturday. And both teams enter the fixture sat level on points in UEFA qualifying Group K, though Serbia boasts the advantage of a game in hand over its competition for the time being.
Things are going smoothly for Serbia thus far in qualifying, even if an early draw away to Albania has thrown a spanner in the works of sorts. Nonetheless, the Eagles still sit third coming into this weekend’s action, just a point behind Albania despite having played two games fewer.
The Serbs are also yet to concede even one goal in qualifying ahead of Saturday’s trip to Daugava Stadium. And head coach Dragan Stojkovic will be desperate to retain that record ahead of Tuesday’s crunch encounter with Group K leader England.
The Three Lions look like overwhelming favorites to finish top of the pile after winning all three games to move four points ahead early on. However, Serbia is one of the few outfits capable of upsetting the apple cart and will look to prove as much with a dominant result in Riga.
