Auburn opened its season with an exciting Friday night win over Baylor, an impressive 38-24, in which the Tigers were led by quarterback Jaxson Arnold, who connected on 11 of 17 passes for 108 yards. Arnold did even more damage on the ground, however, carrying the ball 16 times for 137 yards and two scores. Malcolm Simmons caught one ball for 26 yards in the Auburn win.
Ball State, meanwhile, opened its season with a 31-0 defeat at the hands of Ball State. In the defeat, quarterback Kiael Kelly connected on 10 of 16 passes for 87 yards. Kelly also carried the ball for 63 yards. Elijah Jackson caught one ball 37 yards in the performance.
