The Pyrite Fire continues to burn in Riverside County on Saturday.

Per CAL FIRE’s latest update, posted at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, states that the fire had burned 400 acres and was just five percent contained. It erupted shortly after 5:15 p.m. Friday near Pyrite Street and Granite Hill Drive in Jurupa Valley.

Evacuation warnings and orders were issued shortly after the fire sparked, and several remain in place on Saturday morning as flames continue to burn in a hilly area north of the 60 Freeway. Click here to view them.

Footage shows crews fighting the blaze from the ground and from above, with one video showing a helicopter executing a perfect water drop on the burning hillside.

Nearly 300 personnel have been assigned to combat the flames, and resources are being brought in from other parts of the state to assist with suppression efforts.

An emergency shelter for evacuees is available at Jurupa Valley High School. Animals can be taken to the Riverside County West Animal Shelter, located at 6851 Van Buren Boulevard.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries or structures being damaged or destroyed. There is no word on what started the fire.
