About two months after famous actors, executives and space tourists turned the streets and canals of Venice into a fashion show for the Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sánchez wedding in June, another rarefied crowd did it again for this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Some ensembles seen at the event, which ends on Saturday, were straight off the runways of recent couture and men’s wear shows in Europe. Others were borrowed from designers’ archives — or, in the case of one particular look, lent in real time from one actress at the festival to another.

Over nearly two weeks of screenings and press junkets, a constellation of stars — Colman Domingo, Tilda Swinton and Jacob Elordi among them — made appearances in a range of formal and relaxed clothes. These 14 looks were some of the most memorable.

Ayo Edebiri: Most Blood-Pumping!

You might think that wearing the same shade of red as the rug would make someone blend in. That wasn’t the case for the actress, who quickened pulses when she hit the red carpet in a romantic Chanel gown.

Julia Roberts and Amanda Seyfried: Most Admirable!

What appeared to be a fashion faux pas — two people wearing the same ensemble at the same festival — turned out to be a lesson in sustainability and generosity: The actresses share a stylist, and after Ms. Seyfried saw Ms. Roberts in the Versace look, she reportedly asked to borrow it and wore it days later.

Oscar Isaac: Most Mr. de Vil!

With his salt-and-pepper hair, black-and-white Celine tuxedo and polka-dot shirt, the actor could have been playing the brother of a certain Dalmatian-obsessed cartoon villain.

Chloë Sevigny: Most Scrunchie!

The skirt of the actress’s lacy Saint Laurent ensemble, an archival piece from a 2018 collection, recalled nothing so much as a scrunchie, another sartorial blast from the past.

Greta Lee: Most Va-Va-Voom!

In addition to leaving little to the imagination, the actress’s Dior confection had a waist bow that looked as if it could come undone with one wrong step.

Luka Sabbat: Most Tactile!

Strong shoulders, sharp lapels, swishy pants: The actor’s Saint Laurent finery had it all.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph: Most Cool Whip!

Ruching and ruffles gave the actress’s white Eloquii dress the airiness of the sweet whipped topping.

Andrew Garfield: Most Sweater Weather!

Cooler temperatures may not be here yet, but after seeing the actor in baby blue Dior knitwear, one could be forgiven for wanting to dress for fall.

Myha’la: Most WFH!

Wearing thick eyeglasses, pumps and a Miu Miu tube top and slip skirt, the actress combined corporate and couch attire.

Cate Blanchett: Most Bird Lady!

You could say that the skirt of the actress’s Maison Margiela gown gave her wings.

Amar Chadha-Patel: Most Organic!

Traces of nature could be detected in the actor’s leafy tie and Kartik Research pants, which had the bluish-white palette of a frothy ocean.

Alba Rohrwacher: Most Gilded Age!

The ample skirt of the actress’s Dior gown brought to mind the attire worn by socialites on Mrs. Astor’s 400 list (and the title of a hit Sir Mix-A-Lot song).

Benny Safdie: Most Happy Feet!

Standing out in a sea of penguin suits, as the director showed, can require little more than pulling up your pant legs to reveal a pair of surprising socks. His were Uniqlo (and his tuxedo was Gucci).
