A man was arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a woman at a motel in Orange County.
The suspect was identified as Nelson Rivera Valle, 37, of Los Angeles, according to the Santa Ana Police Department.
On Sept. 3, police received a report from the victim, a 48-year-old woman, who said she had been raped and assaulted.
The night before, the woman had arranged to meet Valle at a motel. During their meeting, a verbal altercation took place. The woman said she was physically and sexually assaulted by Valle and was left with significant injuries.
On Sept. 4, following an investigation, Valle was located at his residence in Los Angeles and taken into custody.
He was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and multiple sexual assault-related offenses. He was booked at the Santa Ana Jail and he is being held on $1 million bail.
Detectives believe there could be additional victims or witnesses in connection with the incident. No further details on the case were released.
