The start of the regular season for the Kansas City Chiefs has not started the way the team wants. On top of going three and out, it appears that star wide receiver Xavier Worthy suffered an apparent injury.

Worthy was seen being thrown to the ground and landed on his shoulder.

The injury appeared to be significant, as he had to be helped by training staff. Losing Worthy this early on would be horrible for the Chiefs.

Moments after the series ended, Worthy was shown heading to the locker room with a towel on his head.

The Chiefs will provide more details as they come, but the scene did not look good for the second-year receiver. Worthy was able to get up on his own power, but he looked to be in immediate pain.

Kansas City had plenty of issues with offensive players being hurt in 2024, and it appears the injury bug has already started to work on the Chiefs in 2025.

Worthy heading to the locker room does not necessarily mean that he will be ruled out for the game, but there will be more updates as they come. For now, the Chiefs will have to hope that the injury Worthy suffered is minimal.

Worthy is expected to take a big role in the passing game, as he secured 638 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. After showcasing his speed and breakaway speed last season, he was expected to take on the lead receiving role for the Chiefs in 2025.

The good news is the Chiefs still have plenty of pass-catching options to get them through the game, but losing Worthy in this important divisional game is tough.
