The Kansas City Chiefs started their season off in the worst way possible, as star wide receiver Xavier Worthy was injured in the first offensive series of the game.

During the game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Worthy got tied up with a defender and Travis Kelce, which led to him hitting the ground hard on his shoulder. Following the event, Worthy had to be assisted off the field.
Initially, Worthy was labeled as questionable to return due to his shoulder injury, but now the Chiefs have received a brutal update.

Worthy has now been downgraded to out, and he will miss the rest of the Week 1 showdown against the Chargers.
The Chiefs’ bad luck regarding offensive players appears to continue into this season. In 2024, Isiah Pacheco and Hollywood Brown missed the majority of the season due to significant injuries.
Missing multiple playmakers left the Chiefs’ offense far less dominant than it had been in previous seasons. However, the team still found ways to pull out close victories.
Kansas City might be able to do something similar in Week 1, but they are currently facing off against its divisional rivals. At the time of this writing, the Chargers are currently leading the way with a 10-0 score.
The Chiefs’ offense has already looked far less dominant, and the team has not been able to string together enough to get points on the board. Without Worthy in the lineup, doing so will be even more difficult.
Worthy was expected to take on a much larger role in 2025, especially after impressing in 2024. Hopefully, the shoulder injury that he suffered does not turn out to be something that sidelines him for multiple weeks.
