Tesla released an iOS app for its robotaxi service on Apple’s App Store on Wednesday.

“Robotaxi app now available to all. Download to join waitlist — expanding access soon,” the company wrote in an X post. It added that an Android version would be “coming in the future.”

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

When Business Insider downloaded and ran the robotaxi app, we were first taken to the robotaxi’s terms of service, which said that rides are “being conducted autonomously” if a safety driver is not in the driver’s seat.

The app then prompted users to tap a button to sign up for the waitlist by creating a Tesla account.

The app’s design is simple. It displays two maps showing the service’s availability in Austin and San Francisco. A carousel gives more details on the robotaxi’s features.

When tapped, a button at the bottom of the app, labelled “Latest news on the service,” takes users to Tesla Robotaxi’s account on X.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the robotaxi during a launch event in October. The service was first rolled out in Austin in June and then in San Francisco in July.

Musk told investors in January that he hoped Tesla would have unsupervised full self-driving vehicles in most countries by the end of next year. He added that this goal could be “limited simply by regulatory issues.”
