EXCLUSIVE: Management company Evoke Entertainment has signed a slew of new writer clients.
The company, formerly known as Cartel Entertainment, has signed Coven Academy showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer, My Oxford Year writer Allison Burnett, Outlander writer Barbara Stepansky and Coach Prime director Micah Brown for representation.
Slavkin and Swimmer are currently running Coven Academy, which was recently ordered to series by Disney+ and the Disney Channel. They were previously showrunners of Hulu’s The Mysterious Benedict Society. They have worked on series including Shadowhunters, Smallville and Melrose Place 2.0, having begun their careers in features, writing Control, starring Ray Liotta, Willem Dafoe and Michelle Rodriguez. Their upcoming film Homesick is currently in early preproduction with Slavkin directing.
The pair are co-represented by IAG.
Burnett wrote Netflix rom-com My Oxford Year, which stars Sofia Carson and Corey Mylchreest, with Melissa Osborne. Other feature credits include Underworld Awakening, Christian Slater-starring Ask Me Anything and Bloodfist III: Forced To Fight. He has also written eight novels.
Stepansky was a writer and producer on four seasons of Starz’s drama Outlander and was the co-creator of Netflix German original Woman of the Dead. Her film Flint starred Queen Latifah and won her a WGA Award. Stepansky is co-represented by CAA.
Finally, Brown is a director, producer, and showrunner, who has worked in the sports entertainment world. Credits include Showtime’s Prison Fighters: 5 Rounds to Freedom, ESPN’s 30 for 30: Chuck & Tito, Peacock’s WWE Evil, Prime Video’s Coach Prime and The Ride, and Netflix’s Untold: Sign Stealer. Brown is co-represented by WME.
