Authorities are searching for a suspect who fired multiple rounds at a father and son who were in a dry lake bed in the High Desert on Labor Day.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to St. Mary’s Hospital in Apple Valley around 12:35 p.m. on Monday afternoon after receiving reports of a gunshot wound victim.
When the deputies arrived and began their investigation, they learned that the shooting had occurred in a dry lake bed near the area of Oldenburg Road and Fairview Valley Road, which is about 13 miles from the hospital and near Reeves Dry Lake in unincorporated Apple Valley. The intersection provided by officials is adjacent to the Holiday Ranch Airport and southwest of the Circular Rock Path.
“The victim and his son drove out to the dry lake bed when a dark colored vehicle drove towards them,” SBSD said in a media release issued late Tuesday morning. “The suspect fired multiple gunshots and the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper arm.”
No suspect or suspects have been located, and no further information was released.
